church life.

prayer

Jesus teaches us how to pray, by calling God "Father".

God wants you to speak to Him, He longs to hear your voice. We see this as an incredible invitation and so we love to pray, knowing these aren't empty words - we are being listened to by our heavenly Father. God listens to, and answers our prayers!

You can speak to God wherever you are, in your own language and words. You can speak to God about anything.

PRAYER ROOM: sometimes it's helpful to be somewhere quiet and calm and so we've set aside a room in our building just for prayer. Whenever our building is open, this room is open for anyone to use for prayer. You'd be really welcome...

PrAYING TOGETHEr

It's also good to pray with other people - it's powerful and encouraging and so we also have special times when we gather together to pray.

MONTHLY PRAYER GATHERING: meeting on different days and at different times for as many people as possible to join together in praying.  These are informal sessions where you can come and pray silently or out loud, join in or just spend time with God with others.  Everyone is welcome.

Check the church diary for dates & times.

HOME GROUPS: most of our church community are connected to a Home Group and whenever we meet together, we pray.  Asking God about what He's been teaching us, asking Him to move in our lives and praying for each other, our community and our world.

Find out more about Home Groups here >>

PRAYER MINISTRY: every Sunday there are people ready to pray with you.  They are normally sat at the front after the service wearing green lanyards.  You can ask them to pray about anything small or large, specific or vague. You can just sit next to them and say, "Can you pray for me?"

PRAYER CHAIN: we gather on Sundays and then scatter throughout the week to our homes, jobs and lives - this is one way we pray for each other's specific or urgent prayer requests on-the-go.  People from church would love to be praying for you.

home groups

A number of people gathering to be a community of disciples following Jesus. Together we can listen to others' experience, discuss our understanding of faith and the world, and have someone to walk alongside us. These groups often, but not always, meet in local homes once a fortnight. They are open to all wherever they are on their journey of faith in Jesus.

Each group aims to:

Follow Jesus: together we study the Bible in a smaller setting, asking questions and growing deeper in knowing God. Applying the Bible to our lives is really important to us: "how do we follow Jesus today?" - "how can I trust God tomorrow?" - "how do I make better choices?"

Connect as a community: we share our lives together - meeting up in our homes across the town with an informal, friendly atmosphere, hopefully topped off with a cuppa. This is hopefully more than a meeting, it’s a community. We walk together and learn from each other’s’ stories. If you want to really become part of our church family - joining a home group is the way to do it!

Love God, Love Others: worshipping God and encouraging, supporting and praying for each other is a natural part of a spiritual community. We don't want to stop there, together we want to love and serve our town. A community on mission!

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR
LOVE THE WORLD

"God has repeatedly told us to fill the earth . . .

The people of God have constantly gotten stuck, settled and soft, and He has had to shake us out of this state.

My prayer is that we will be the first generation to scatter on purpose . . . That we will go into every sector of society - business, the arts, education and more - and be the Daniels of our day: being good at what we do, gaining favour in our workplace, and having the credibility to share our faith boldy"

[Andrew Scott, Scatter]

We are working on doing this ourselves in and around Sutton Coldfield. We're also active in supporting and sending missionaries and projects across the world. We are their support team, spurring them on, standing on the side-lines praying, watching, encouraging, cheering!

There are so many needs across the world; we partner with a number of people and projects, representing a mixture of these needs and different approaches to mission. No one project is the answer in itself; yet a combination of different people, skills and approaches can make a powerful impact in our world.
